2024 Award-Winning Top Treatment
The Project
These clients were decorating their new home and wanted the Great Room and adjoining dining area to feel more personal, finished, and connected to their style. We had recently re-upholstered several furniture pieces and added new roller shades, but the room still needed a custom fabric detail to bring everything together.
The Design Challenge
The clients wanted tailored custom top treatments with personality. They were looking for a fabric with some “wow” and a little bit of sparkle, but they did not want the room to feel too formal, too traditional, or too trendy.
They selected a faux Roman shade style, which made the fabric choice especially important. Because the embroidered pattern would be visible across the folds, the design required careful planning, precise measuring, and skilled workmanship to create a pleasing pattern match.
The Custom Solution
Amy designed three faux Roman shade top treatments using a stunning embroidered fabric accented with metallic glass bead trim. The fabric added the color, texture, and personality the clients wanted, while the trim provided just enough sparkle to make the design feel special.
Amy’s skilled workroom fabricated each faux Roman shade with careful attention to proportion, fold placement, pattern alignment, and finishing detail. The result was a set of custom top treatments that added freshness, sophistication, and a distinctive designer look without overwhelming the room.
The Finished Result
The custom top treatments completed the Great Room and dining area beautifully. They coordinated with the re-upholstered furniture, worked with the roller shades, and added the tailored fabric detail the room needed.
The space now feels fresh, polished, and personal, while still being comfortable for everyday family life. Soil-repellent fabrics on the sofa, bucket chairs, and recliner make the room practical for grandchildren’s visits, and the finished space has become a well-lived, well-loved room for the entire family.
The clients were absolutely delighted with the outcome.
